Thursday Thoughts

Accomplishments so far this week:

  • Mastering belaying on the rock wall
  • Teaching students about puberty, consent, and their own anatomy (even though I’m a music teacher)
  • I’ve only spent $50 this whole week- just the basics! (oranges, lettuce, coffee, etc.)

Things that have brought me joy (so far) this week:

  • Climbing to the top of a 5.7 top ropes course and bouldering a V1 (I’ve got my eyes on you, V2)
  • Starting each day with a brisk jog and steaming coffee

Things I have learned this week:

  • That the Handmaid’s Tale is an amazing dystopian story highlighting potential exploitations of women in a world where theology becomes autocracy. I MUST read the novel!
  • The Great British Baking Show is teaching me to help others, keep soggy produce out of my pastries, and never never ever take someone else’s homemade ice cream out of the freezer!

Here’s to more of the good vibes!

What is your midday pick-up?

I pack my lunch and take my breaks in the classroom or teacher’s lounge. I pack healthy, home-cooked meals or salads. But ALL I want right now is a pastry and iced coffee. That’s all I want!

(Psst, think I might stop at my favorite bakery on my way home…)

What is your midday pick-up? Do you have a coffee pot near your desk? Do you watch a TED talk during lunch? Is all of that really boring compared to your lunchtime routine?

What are you going to do today?

I am going to make $50 driving for Lyft after school.

I will also cook breakfast burritos for dinner and freeze some for a happy Friday morning!

I will unwittingly make that $415 purchase in my REI cart for my upcoming trip.

AND I will catch up on tasks at school. Finish lesson plans, collect permission slips for our weekend field trip, and print photos of female musicians from Chicago.

What are you going to do today?
