Monday Reflections and Intentions

What a wild summer. As soon as we got back from Canada, we washed a load of laundry, went for a great bike ride in Chicago, and turned right around and drove to New York City. I’m having a blast, but am ready to slow down. This week we are headed to southern Indiana to visit my family, and I am hoping to share some local favorites with my boyfriend while we’re there. Here are my reflections and intentions for the week. I hope your summer is action packed and sunny!

Monday Reflections and Intentions

Hey all! I am currently making the rapid turnaround from an amazing outdoor adventure in Canada to a fast few days metro-NYC. This means washing all of my grubby hiking clothes and packing my best city-wear.  I will share many, many photos of Canada here soon. In the meantime, here is what I’ve been doing and will do.

Reflections:
-Backpacked in Banf with my brother and sister. Experienced Alpine Spring and hike to a teahouse in the mountains between two lakes.
-Visited hot springs and more lakes with my whole family.
-Went for an 11 mile bike ride in Chicago. Had THE BEST time.
-Ran all over downtown with my sister just for fun. Bought theses earrings!

Intentions:
-Rent a bike in NYC
-Learn this song
-Pay all of my bills !!!
-Share photos of my trip to Canada

April Showers bring chilly hours!

It’s getting warmer outside, but it is also getting… wetter. So we all want to expose our kneecaps and elbows… but the rain brings along a bit of a chill!

If you have ever come in from the rain in your light spring clothes only to sit in front of the A/C with no jacket… you know how important it is to have some spare spring sweaters- for your bag, your car, even to keep at your desk! As we are anticipating a drizzly week in the midwest, here are some mood and shoulder warmers to the rescue!

Each cardigan below is $25!
For pulling over a light denim dress when you want warm arms and a place to store your phone…. we need some millennial pink with pockets!

But I ALWAYS need a green option, and the mossy short-sleeved choice adds some nice color to my otherwise hunter green choices.

My health is my Monday Motivation!

1. I woke up at 5 a.m. and ran a mile!

2. I have said no to junk food and had wholesome meals like overnight oatmeal and whole-wheat spaghetti with a fresh salad.

3. I am going to take the financial plunge and try the “beginner to badass” program at Brooklyn Boulders Chicago! I am so excited! I have never done regular strength training, and this seems like a fun way to do it.

What is your Monday Motivaton?

I am so so so SO excited for my trip out West. Here is how I am starting my week right:
np_music_888716_000000.png  I watched the documentary “Little Girl Blue,” about Janis Joplin, on Netflix this weekend. My closest friend and roommate of 2 years loved Janis, and often had one of her albums playing. I learned so much about Janis’ life and death, and as much as I love her earlier albums, I am mesmerized by the trajectory that led her to record the album “Pearl.” I even recorded “Mercedes Benz” the next day. Maybe I’ll share the final copy with you all :)I watched the documentary “Little Girl Blue,” about Janis Joplin, on Netflix this weekend. np_coffee_888748_000000 Coffee makes me feel good. Iced coffee makes me feel even better! It is finally warm enough to justify a regular iced coffee. My sister and I have this magical coffee every chance we get in the summer. Do try it!

np_book_888684_000000  I almost never quit a book before I finish it, but I caught myself zoning out of my non-fiction text about the discovery of ruins from the ancient Mayan civilization. I decided to give myself a break and pick up something new. I am taking this collection of short stories from a part-time Westerner on my backpacking trip, but plan to sink into this one right away.
